6 Ways of Determining the Quality of Weed

At the time of writing, around 30 states, including Washington DC, allows either medicinal or recreational cannabis. This number is subject to change because states progressively continue to hold ballots to decide whether or not to amend the legal statute of cannabis.

However, not all states are fortunate to get quality marijuana products. Whether or not you stay in a legal state, the good news is that you may avoid being stuck with subpar marijuana by considering the following ways:

  1. Look at the Color

Generally, quality weed buds need to be green instead of brown. The exact shade may range from the forest and darker to frosty and lighter green, with undertones, which can be purple, golden, or rosy.

Buds, which look bleached white, are unlucky victims of light burn or unfavorable growing conditions. Always avoid buying such weeds because they’ll not give you a great vaping or smoking experience.

  1. Consider the Smell

Good marijuana will always have an unmistakable and pungent cannabis scent. Top-grade marijuana from the best dispensaries will boast the nickname ‘loud’ due to its pleasant and strong aroma, which you can even notice even in sealed packaging.

Always avoid smoking weed, which smells like hay or grass. Such marijuana has been exposed to oxygen, breaking down its psychoactive and aromatic compounds.

  1. Determine the Density

Marijuana buds need to break apart from the stem. If they act like clay soil and compact more when pressed using fingers, they may not have been cured and dried properly.

The compactness of marijuana may also be due to packaging during transportation. Crumbling low-quality weed may as well be difficult to roll, resulting in a joint, which should be lit constantly.

  1. Check the Texture

When buying weed in the best dispensaries near me, it’s important to check the texture of the product you want to buy. Well-cured cannabis needs to be dried slightly and sticky.

If your cannabis buds are not sticky, it means they will easily turn to dust. However, you should not buy them when they are too moist.

  1. Consider Trichomes

Trichomes refer to structures where terpenes and cannabinoids are predominantly stored. To have a great experience, you need to make sure that your marijuana buds are ripe with trichomes.

Ideally, trichomes need to be milky white and shiny with a pinch of amber in them. Clear trichome heads are an indication that they were harvested early.

  1. Prioritize the Taste

You need to taste strong natural flavors with high-quality marijuana. Quality weed should not taste metallic. Those tasting this way may have harmful impurities, including fungicides, pesticides, and other contaminants, which didn’t get flashed out from marijuana plants.

Using such marijuana may pose a great risk to your health and change the overall experience. The foul taste may also be a sign of pests, mold, and bacteria growth.

In Conclusion!

Access to top-quality marijuana still remains a premier concern within the industry for patients, doctors, and other individuals exploring the plant’s ever-growing applications.

While medical marijuana has great health benefits, people cannot tap into those advantages unless they learn how to identify the most quality cannabis by determining their taste, trichomes, smell, color, texture, and density, just to mention a few.
