Cremation is the practice of reducing the body of a dead person into ashes. Before the cremation process, the funeral director must first obtain permission to cremate from one of the closest relatives. During the cremation process, the casket containing the body is positioned in the cremation chamber. The chamber is made up of fire-resistant bricks on the sides and ceiling while the floor is made of a unique compound that is capable of withstanding the extreme heat during the cremation process. The temperature within the chambers ranges from approximately 1800 degrees to -2000 degrees. It takes about two hours for the cremation process to be completed.

After the process, the cremated remains should settle for about 30 minutes before proceeding to the next step. After the cremated remains have cooled, they are removed from the chamber, processed, and later put in a plastic bag. The cremains is then taken back to the relatives and family. Most people choose cremation because of their religious beliefs or whenever they possess a small space to bury the deceased. It can also be a result of fulfilling the request of the individual who has died. Many funeral homes deal with cremation, for instance, cremation services in Sumner, Washington.

The cremated remains can be scattered, entombed, buried, or even kept by the family in a beautiful urn. Some of the family members can also decide to place the remains in a coral reef within the ocean. After the cremation process is over, the remains used during this process, for instance, metal hips, latches, remains from the casket, and bridgework is given to a recycling company. The money obtained after the recycling process is used for donations to various charities. The magnetic selection process is used to remove human bone fragments from the materials.

During the cremation service, relatives and friends arrive at the crematorium at the agreed time. They may assemble there before the hearse arrives or just sit at church before the casket is brought in. The casket is then placed on a surface commonly known as a catafalque which is usually raised. The cremation service takes approximately 45 minutes before the cremation process starts. Before the cremation process takes place, the mourners can sing some hymns and also read the eulogy. Extra time can be allocated if the mourners have other activities to do before the actual cremation takes place.

As the service comes to an end, the casket is then covered for the mourners to pay their last tribute to the deceased person. After that, the mourners are allowed to leave the service. At this moment, guests are allowed to give their condolences. After that, they make their way to the wake. At the wake, both the family members and guests can have food and drinks while sharing their memories of the deceased.

During the cremation process, only combustible components are used to avoid polluting the environment. Once you have registered the death of your family member you will be issued a green form to allow you to carry on the cremation.

Wrapping up

To sum up, there are many activities that take place during the cremation process. The above article has highlighted some of the activities which you should expect during the process.
